CONCEPT ART
This is my favorite part. Is the place where I let free my imagination to bring to life worlds of
dream, creatures of stories and memories of distant futures. I find the shapes of things to bring
to life everywhere around me, in a book I have read, in the face of a man passing on the
street, in sounds that are surrounding me, in the nature.
I even see those worlds when I close my eyes, dancing in the dark, lurking to get out.
I am creating them using all kind of techniques, from pencil to computer graphic.

S C I F I
Is the educated part of the imagination, closely related with science. But still such a big place,
with entire Universes to explore, wondrous technology to research, new species to dissect. When I
am creating sci-fi art I am embarking on a great ship that is caring me to the edge of the galaxy,
or in time past or future fastest than any warp engine or wormhole can do. A new world is only a
pencil strike away, a suns birth is close near the color tube.

FANTASY PORTRAITS
They are the ones form above in closeup, and even some that you will not find there. See the fear
is in the eyes of one and majesty on the face of another. See what makes different an thusers face
from the one of a vardoglu, see how a gnome grows and gets old. Angry gods are watching us from
avatars eyes in here. Trolls are presenting their tusks, and lizard man scales are shining in the
suns light.

WORLDS AND CITIES
I made a special category for landscapes mainly for ergonomic reasons, so it contains both
fantasy and sci-fi drawings. In this part i am walking on the map of my imagination adding a
stellar city here, a new planet there, and I ad a magic forest to or a mountain higher than
the skies. Then I go down in the bawls of the earth and build a demonic fiery town or a white
and secluded futuristic town.

GODS AND HEROES
Meet the heroes, the archetypes, the priest declaring devotion to his god and even the god,
the mage with his mind in the alchemy, the warrior sharping his sword, the rogue hiding in
the shadow of a high tower, the lady testing her latest dress. Meet the old races, the noble
elves, the little gnomes, the children eating ogres and even some humans that are worth
mention.
|
BEASTS AND MONSTERS
Creatures of nightmares and noble beasts. In this section dragons fly in the high sky, and
troglodytes are roaming under the earth. There are beasts you heard about before and beasts
that you never met. Beasts of my mind and of our fairy tales.

3D ART AND MODELLING

3D ART
Though is a new art creation method I use, is not less important then the first two.
It permits me to combine the painting, sculpture and computer graphic to realize things that
in other ways elude me. With the 3d modeling the art I create discovers the 3d dimension,
a plus of movement and depth. Is like sculpting using computer tools instead of hammer and
chisels. Is a lot cleaner to, I might ad!!

CHARCOAL DRAWINGS
I consider drawing my main tool of practice, as well as the first phase in any work I do,
though I am doing paintings even without any initial drawing. But I also I consider drawing
a good way to express what I see around me fast, and many of my works are done only in drawing.
Some times I just make a fast doodle, other times I enjoy doing complex studies, adding
thousand of details, thoughI rarely succed due do the shortage of time. The drawings from
this cathegory are somwhat different form my usual work, and done in charcoal, which I don't use
very often.

Icons
You can not consider yourself an accomplished painter until you do not master to perfection
the old techniques. And which can be considered older then the byzantine ones, that have their
beginnings in the egyptian painting. Painting on wood or wall (fresque) can be hard some times,
but after you finish such a work you know for sure that will endure centuries if done right.
For many years I've studied byzantine painting, from the creation of the wood panels to the
varnishing. This years have teach me an important lesson. In painting is as much chemistry as
is creation, maybe more. That makes that most of my sold paintings to be byzantine icons, many
from them embellishing churches from Romania and Canada, and private collections around the
world. If you want to see more Icons and info on them, you can go to my
Byzantine Studio.
There you can find, beside the icons, details on Iconography and the techniques of painting
an icon.
